It's actually surreal that the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor boxing match is upon us, but that is the case as we move towards Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Mayweather (49-0. McGregor will be available in the U.S. On Showtime boxing pay-per-view with live streaming available for various devices. The PPV fight will cost $99.95 in HD (or $89.95 for SD).

So, I believe I started my breakdown of a possible Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing matchup by calling it a no good, very bad situation for the UFC. Their most prized, visible, and lucrative fighter would be embarrassed on the largest PPV event in recorded human history, resulting in a massive pay day for McGregor and tremendous loss of prestige for the UFC.

While I still believe those things, and still can't believe that UFC President Dana White will not allow this to happen, watching how hard Floyd Mayweather is trying to sell this makes me believe there's a legit chance it could happen.

So, all it takes is one very vague question about how much Mayweather 'misses competition,' and Floyd goes into a hard Conor McGregor sell? That's pretty aggressive. Almost to the point where it appears Mayweather is desperate for the fight to happen.

Mayweather has a point about a possible matchup against McGregor being the fight 'fans want to see.' Chances are it would surpass Mayweather vs. Pacquiao in terms of PPV buys.

However, whether the fight would be fair is an entirely different question. Mayweather's comments about the weight of the gloves used by the UFC, versus the weight of the gloves used by boxing, are very misleading. The gloves worn in the UFC tend to weigh only 4-6 ounces. Most of them weigh the minimum 4-5 ounces. That's why you see so many more knockdowns and knockouts in MMA, as opposed to boxing.

Boxing gloves vary in weight depending on the weight class. But, the gloves normally worn by fighters on Floyd Mayweather's division, are normally no less than 8 ounces. Meaning, the gloves that McGregor would use in a hypothetical matchup with Mayweather would likely weigh nearly twice as much as the gloves he normally uses.

Which would mean McGregor's punching power would suffer significantly. So, to recap, McGregor wouldn't be able to take the fight to the ground, where he would enjoy a clear advantage, since he would be fighting one of the greatest fighters of all time in his first ever professional boxing match. And, to cap it all off, his punches might get reduced to anywhere from 30-50% of their normal power.

Other than that, it's a totally fair fight.

Jake Paul set the boxing world alight with his performance on the undercard of Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. He knocked out former NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion Nate Robinson in brutal fashion. Robinson plummeted face-first in a moment, which went viral and has spawned countless memes.

While Robinson is getting mocked, many are also seriously looking at the credentials of Jake Paul. While he is yet to fight a real boxer, his few pro bouts have been more than decent. Now that Paul is looking ahead to a blockbuster matchup with Conor McGregor, the question has to be asked. Is Jake Paul somehow a bad matchup for Conor?

Paul has a few inches on Conor, but McGregor is literally a world-class MMA fighter. His one boxing fight was against Floyd Mayweather, which shows the difference in ability already. However, is there a sneaky way that Paul actually may have the advantage over McGregor?

Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor: Is this realistic?

It is almost impossible to actually feasibly make this argument. It is different if you hypothesize him against Ben Askren, who was primarily a wrestler. But Conor made his bread and butter by being an electric striker. Even Mayweather felt the brunt of McGregor's early wind in that fight. However, a gassed Conor was what helped Floyd win it later.

Paul does have a size and reach advantage, and you could argue he has a power advantage as well. However, Conor is a superior striker in any combat sport. Conor has sneaky power in his punches, as he knows exactly where to hit. As he has gotten bigger, his power has carried over. We saw this as recently as his last fight against ‘Cowboy' Cerrone at welterweight.

Paul showed great technique for someone with no real professional boxing experience. He could actually have a solid boxing career if he devoted himself to it. He seems to have the ability for it. However, Conor is a lifelong practitioner of martial arts and would have almost an unfair advantage over a YouTuber that has fought a couple of pro fights.

If you actually wondered whether Paul has an advantage over McGregor, the answer is no. There is no way a YouTuber can outbox a world champion fighter that trained to fight Floyd Mayweather.
